Extra sparkle? Add a diamond halo.
Halo engagement rings, especially diamond halos, are an enduring favourite, and it’s not hard to see why. Diamonds bling up anything, it’s an irrefutable fact. Adding a halo of diamonds to your engagement ring, earrings or pendant gives an extravagant look on a smaller budget.
Halo engagement rings give a bigger look for a smaller budget. It’s easy to spend $13,000 on a 1 carat solitaire ring, but you can achieve a similar look with significantly less dosh by choosing a smaller centre stone and adding a surrounding halo of diamonds. Read on for approximate prices.

Double Halo Engagement Ring
Looking for even more of a wow factor? Diamondport Double Halo Engagement Rings are certain to please.
Mellow Yellow Diamond Halo Rings
Yellow diamonds make a fabulous halo too. They’re not as rare as pinks, so a yellow diamond centre stone surrounded by a white diamond halo is also within the realms of possibility! I recommend darker yellow diamonds set in white gold claws; it looks much better than yellow gold on yellow diamonds.
Sapphire Halo Rings
A sapphire with a white diamond halo is elegance personified. It’s long been a popular style, perhaps inspired by Princess Diana and Kate Middleton’s 12-carat sapphire engagement ring. Sapphires are significantly cheaper per carat than diamonds, so you too can pick a big one.
Morganite Halo Engagement Rings
Diamondport recently had the pleasure of creating this morganite cocktail ring with a diamond halo. Not limited to engagement rings, the diamond halo is gaining popularity in eternity rings too.
Halo dimensions; getting the ratios right
It’s a tricky one to explain, but some ratios look better than others.
Ashley Portas, the owner of Diamondport, prefers the look of smaller, dainty diamonds in the halo for a large central stone. And if the centre stone is smaller, say 0.5 carat, he’d go for bigger diamonds in the halo.
It might sound counterintuitive, so Diamondport will show you plenty of designs during your consultation, so you can decide for yourself.
How much does a diamond engagement ring cost?
Generally speaking, the biggest cost is the centre stone, and diamonds get exponentially more expensive as they get bigger. We custom-design engagement rings at Diamondport, so if you’re after a halo ring, we’ll design it to suit your budget.
Prices for Diamond Halo Engagement Rings
Halo ring setting starts at $3,500. This includes the halo and the metal yet doesn’t include the main centre stone.
Centre diamond prices vary considerably. Some examples are below:
- 0.5 carat central diamond, approximately $2,500
- 0.75 carat central diamond, approximately $5,000
- 1 carat central diamond, approximately $10,500
Therefore, Halo Diamond Engagement Rings begin from approximately $6,000. However, Diamondport will work with you to customise your ring to suit your budget.
EXTRA’S for you Halo Engagement Ring
Diamonds in the band
What’s better than diamonds surrounded by diamonds? More diamonds in the band, thanks. Enough said.
Add colour with pink diamonds
A lot of guys want pink diamonds, not realising how expensive they are. So, we add a pink diamond halo set in rose gold around a white central diamond with white gold claws.
Diamond halo earrings
I love diamond stud earrings, they’re absolutely beautiful. But they need to be quite large to really look their best; 0.5 carat plus, which can get pricey.
A 0.2 carat diamond stud earrings would set you back about $1,500 and they have a diameter of about 3.8mm across. Adding a halo of 0.02 carat diamonds will more than double the diameter, and cost around $2,250 total. The earrings will look much bigger, more than double the size, just by adding the halo and a small increase in price.
